Park(ing) Day with Bike Focus
PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event that brings attention to the benefits of having more public green spaces in urban areas. During this event, on-street parking spaces are converted into temporary parks. As in years past, Floura Teeter Landscape Architects will host Park(ing) Day, but at their new offices at 800 N. Charles Street. To show support for the environmental and health benefits of cycling, FTLA’s fourth annual PARK(ing) Day installation will create a temporary bicycle park in Mt. Vernon. Staff, clients, colleagues, friends and neighbors can enjoy the amenities of the park which include:
- Free brake and bike inspections courtesy of Baltimore Bicycle Works, who will also be able to assist with minor repairs
- Fresh smoothies made with bike-powered blenders provided by farmer’s market favorite Wheely Good Smoothies (any proceeds will be donated to Bike Maryland)
- Information from the Baltimore Department of Transportation including the new Baltimore City bike map
A bike rack will be available to accomodate visitors arriving on two wheels.
