On September 14, 2011, the League of American Bicyclists announced the Marion I. & Henry J. Knott Foundation as a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) in a diverse and groundbreaking number of 111 new BFBs.

Nationally, the Knott Foundation is the only family foundation to currently be recognized as a platinum, gold, silver, or bronze award recipient. The Foundation joins seven other businesses in Maryland that were also recognized for their commitment to bike-based transportation.

The Knott Foundation’s next step will be to encourage other businesses to join this innovative movement and share how an investment in bicycling can be a vehicle for improved employee health, social responsibility, and economic growth. In addition, look for our announcement of this award, as well as a reminder of when the next application is due, in our bi-monthly e-newsletter.
