    99 Racks on the Street!

    As DOT moves forward with installing more racks across the city in 2011, I did an inventory of how many bike racks were put in the street in 2010.  99 bike racks!  (You could almost put it to a tune)

    That’s not a bad number for Baltimore.  It’s not Chicago’s 1000+ racks in a year, but we’re making progress.  Some places that got racks last year were:

    So far, we’ve verified another 35 racks to hit the streets within the next couple months!  Thanks everyone for the requests!  Keep ‘em coming!

      One question though: are these single rack installations per site? I can imagine Ottobar needing more than one rack for instance, as compared to say, the hardware store.

      Usually, it depends on when the request was made. We had a lot of rack request just as the initial inventory was next to zero, so we could only add 1 per location. I believe Ottobar one of the last requests we received last year.

      How about more racks at Penn Station?

      There are more racks just inside the top part of the parking garage. They’re also right next to the guard stand which makes them slightly more secure than the racks by the Man Woman statue.
