Last Saturday was a crisp, autumn morning to hold the 2nd Baltimore Family Bike Party. Like the first Baltimore Family Bike Party ride, the second had about 30 participants. This month’s family bike party started at Patterson Park’s castle-like playground where kids of all ages decorated their bikes with streamers and pipe cleaners before. The group then rode east through the park to Gough Street and descended through the colorful trees of Butcher’s Hill. The ride stopped for snacks on Eastern Avenue in front of the house of Tim Chng and his family and then rolled through Perkins Homes to Little Italy for a second snack stop at Vaccaro’s. Finally the group rode back to Patterson Park, where many of the children stayed and played at the impressive playground or checked out the dogs at BARCStoberfest.
The next Baltimore Family Bike Party will be on Saturday, November 10th, starting at 9:30 a.m. at Riverside Park in south Baltimore. Come join the group for a fun ride and to check out the utility bikes, trailers, trail-a-bikes, and other ways that families are riding with their children.
