Regrouping and reloading in Fells Pt

This year’s Bob Moore Memorial/Moonlight Madness Ride was another success – no major wrecks and no one left behind. The group of over 100 pedalled safely through the streets of B’more and picked up a few interested riders along the way.

Penny & Pierre. Big Thanks to Pierre & Crew for sheparding the ride and keeping the intersections clear

Penny Troutner opened the ride with a few words about Bob and what he did to push biking in Baltimore. Not long after 8, we rolled out across The Block, where WE were the spectacle. Around the Harbor, through Federal Hill, up Charles St we took a break at Druid Lake where the moon hung over the Moorish Tower. Heading south along Bolton Hill, we were joined by 5 local youth who rode wheelies for blocks! Over to Broadway, down to Fells Pt and back to City Hall to complete another glorious ride.

This ride was my girlfriends first group ride, first night ride and longest city ride (by about 11 miles). As such, I want to give a special thanks to the sweepers and to the caboose man (sorry, I forgot his name) for all of their help and dedication. It is not easy riding slowly in a group, especially for newer riders and they really helped allowing her/us to focus on riding and staying together. Their job was not easy and Baltimore driver are some of the most impatient (and downright rude at times) I have ever seen but they took it in stride and kept the group together. Thanks again!

This too was my first group and city ride.  I had a great time other than the flat tires (thanks for everyone’s help).
